what we believe

Our church follows the Christian belief of one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God’s magnificent love came to earth in the form of Jesus, who lived on this earth, and then died and rose again, thus reconciling us to God. He who was sinless took on our sins and freed us, so we now can be sons and daughters of God. Those who ask forgiveness, and believe in his name are made into new creatures through his spirit of love.
Our founder John Wesley wrote about God’s love coming to us before we even know him. So we don’t have to wait until we feel good enough to approach our Lord, or to come to church. God loves us and has been calling us all our lives. He is always seeking a closer relationship with us. The other side to that is that we can’t earn our salvation by good works. Salvation comes from God alone simply by grace.
Lastly, we believe Jesus calls us to respond to his sacrifice of love by action. After we receive forgiveness, after we have been pardoned, we are called to share that love with others. We are also called to continue to seek a closer relationship with our Lord. He constantly has new things to teach us, and new things to reveal about himself in this world.
This is what we believe and what you will see taught, preached, and lived within our church walls at Union United Methodist Church.
